This policy covers crimsonumbrella.com: what the site collects when you visit it or send the contact form, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It does not cover the work we do for clients, which is governed by the contract for that work.Draft

What we collectDraft

When you send the contact form:Draft

  • your name, email address and message, and your company and topic if you give them;Draft
  • the page or campaign that brought you to the site, if your browser tells us;Draft
  • your browser’s user agent;Draft
  • a one-way hash of your IP address, made with a secret that only we hold. We use it to stop one sender flooding the form. We never store the IP address itself.Draft

When you browse the site: with your consent where the law requires it, Google Analytics records which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location (country or region). Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.Draft

To keep the site running: Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the contact form is sent by a person.Draft

Why we use itDraft

  • To answer your enquiry and, if you ask, to prepare a proposal. This is in our legitimate interest and yours, and is a step you asked us to take before any contract.Draft
  • To keep the form free of spam and abuse. This is in our legitimate interest.Draft
  • To understand which pages are useful, through analytics. For visitors in the UK, the EU, the EEA and Switzerland we ask for consent first; elsewhere analytics runs unless you turn it off under Cookie settings.Draft

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list. We do not have one.Draft

Who processes it for usDraft

  • Cloudflare: hosting, the database that stores enquiries, and Turnstile.Draft
  • Resend: sends the notification of your enquiry to us, and the reply to you.Draft
  • Google: Google Analytics, and Google Workspace, where our email is kept.Draft

Each works under its own data processing terms. Some process data in the United States; where the law requires it, those transfers rely on the providers’ standard contractual clauses.Draft

How long we keep itDraft

Enquiries are deleted from the website’s database 12 months after they arrive. Our reply and any correspondence that follows stay in our email for as long as the conversation is useful.Draft

Google Analytics keeps detailed event data for 2 months.Draft

Cookies and similar storageDraft

  • theme: your choice of the light or dark theme, kept in your browser. Never sent to us.Draft
  • consent: your answer to the analytics question and when you gave it, kept in your browser. Never sent to us.Draft
  • _ga and _ga_*: Google Analytics cookies that tell one visit from another. They are set only when analytics is allowed, and expire after 13 months.Draft

You can change your analytics choice at any time under Cookie settings, at the foot of every page. Turning analytics off deletes the Google Analytics cookies.Draft

Your rightsDraft

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Email contact@crimsonumbrella.com and we will answer within a month. If you are in the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EU or the EEA, to your national data protection authority.Draft
